Equivalence with the G-040
On juli 7, 2021, the FASFC recognised the equivalence between the Vegaplan Standard (version 4.1 dd 14.05.2021) and the Sector Guide for Primary Production G-040 v5.0 dd 29.09.2020 (module A 'Crop production' and B 'Roughage' - version 4.0 dd 29.09.2020), the requirements of the latter being fully incorporated in the Vegaplan Standard.
The sector guide G-040 consists of a general part and modules A, B, C and D. The general part and the individual modules must each have a version number. The version numbers of all modules are not necessarily identical, but the version number of the general part is the overall version number of the Sector Guide. It is this overall number that is mentioned on the certificates.
When updating modules A and B of the Sector Guide G-040, the version number of the equivalent Vegaplan Standard always corresponds to that of these modules A and B. However, adaptations in other modules of the Sector Guide (i.e. module C "animal production" and module D "non-edible horticultural production") also result in an adaptation of the version number of the general part of the Sector Guide. As a result, the version number (of the general part) of the Sector Guide G-040 may no longer correspond to the version number of the Vegaplan Standard displayed on the certificate.
It is therefore not necessary to obtain a separate certificate for the Sector Guide, which is sometimes subject to an additional cost charged by the certification body.
Specifically: if all activities involving crop production that take place on the farm are covered by the certificate for the Vegaplan Standard the farmer will enjoy:
- the bonus on the annual FASFC contribution
- a reduced FASFC inspection frequency
This only applies if there are no other activities or if the other operations are given a favorable audit by a Certification Body, based on an approved sector guide or by the FAVV.
The farmer may, however, still opt for the Sector Guide (modules A and/or B) without the Vegaplan Standard if he so wishes.
The Vegaplan Standard checklist includes the requirements of both specifications, but distinction between both is clearly visible in same document.
The comparative table of the two specifications is available in Dutch and French and can be found on the Vegaplan Website, under the heading Vegaplan Standard - equivalence with Sector Guide G-040 (modules A and B)
